Meep has been hard at (surreal) work

The artist known as meep has to be one of the hardest working street artists in Madison right now (next to Roboman), and I love all of their work, in all its surrealistic glory. Most of it seems to be clustered around Mother Fools and the Willy Street area, though if anyone has seen it elsewhere in town, give a shout!

A truly stunning fox

This stencil, underneath the Beltline and spotted/submitted by friend Mickie, is absolutely incredible. The colors, the work on the fur...I don't even know how this was done. Serious kudos to the artist.

Boba Fett is watching you bike

Boba Fett is all over the bike path on the east side / Atwood 'hood. Watching you ride your bike. Judging you, probably.

Bifurcated Wolf

Cut in half and locked up. It's hard out here for an urban wolf paste-up. Spotted on the fire-gutted but slowly-being-remodeled storefront at E. Mifflin and N. Webster.

Literal street art is coming to Madison!

So this is really effing cool. Per the Capital Times:

Madison's buildings are already used as blank slates for murals, and poetry has sprung up on east side sidewalks. Now the streets, too, will become a canvas, with a newly passed ordinance allowing paint and chalk drawing.

According to the new rule, images must be nonpartisan and noncommercial, and the artist is responsible for maintaining them...

...The ordinance approved at Monday's Common Council meeting would allow for chalk and painted designs on streets "with a speed limit of 25 miles per hour or less."

The ordinance was approved at last Monday's meeting of the Common Council, and though there's not yet an official process for artists to submit ideas, there should be something soon. Read the full article above for details, and get to brainstorming!
