Another face in the wall

It's almost like the green Zoidberg face thing is trying to mock the red face stencil, but we all know that just comes from being insecure. East side of Madison, on the bike path near intersection of E. Wilson and Dickinson Streets.

Watchers on the bridge

A couple of interesting, nicely done stencils on the bridge crossing the Yahara River at Rutledge.

A truly stunning fox

This stencil, underneath the Beltline and spotted/submitted by friend Mickie, is absolutely incredible. The colors, the work on the fur...I don't even know how this was done. Serious kudos to the artist.

Boba Fett is watching you bike

Boba Fett is all over the bike path on the east side / Atwood 'hood. Watching you ride your bike. Judging you, probably.

Photographer Wendy K. kindly sent in even more submissions of some little bits she's spotted around town. I really want to go find the tic-tac-toe stencil and fill in another move.

Caution, breakdancers ahead

Oh man, this is an awesome stencil. Glad to see the artists are out and about again now that things are thawing out around here.

This gem was photographed by Wendi Kent, who says it's in the bike path tunnel to East Campus Mall. Let's hope it gets to stick around for awhile. After all, it's important for people to be aware of oncoming breakdancers.

A soldier and his headless, mutant turtles

Gotta love the isthmus. Found this charming little tableau on E. Wilson while biking from work yesterday - I'd miss these things entirely if I spent more time in a car, frankly.

Charge bayonets!

Kind of an old-timey soldier thing going on here - pretty sure the artist is USB, because one of their logos was right about this stencil, but I could be wrong (correct me if you know better: madstreetart AT gmail.com). A cool little piece, nonetheless.

FRNZ strikes again

The funny thing is that this tag appears to have been done on top of a hastily applied layer of paint hiding some older graffiti on this wall.

Fighting Aces

 

This is a pair of really beautiful, multi-color stencils on the spit of bike path behind the Union Corners wasteland. The detail on the nose of the fighter planes is especially stunning (click the image for a better look), but really, the whole set is just super well done. Kudos to whoever the artist is on these.

Ghost Rider? I'm not sure, but this killer flaming pilot/biker skull head thing is a pretty great stencil. The text probably explains it, but I'm terrible at reading graffiti scripts. Anyone?

Seen on the little spit of bike path behind the Union Corners wasteland. There were a number of great stencils there, actually, to be posted in coming days.

Cthulhu on a train > snakes on a plane

This stencil of Cthulhu is just plain awesome. There, I said it. I was driving by and caught the image out of the corner of my eye, so pulled into a nearby parking lot, ran across a busy road, hopped through some tall grass, scrambled across a few railroad tracks to take this picture.

No idea if this is by a Madison-area artist since it's on the side of a train, of course, but this particular set of cars tends to sit for awhile and I hadn't noticed it previously, so there's a good chance it is. Regardless, it's super cool.

Witness/photographer JP says these stencils have been on the cooling unit out back of Nature's Bakery on Willy St. for some time now. No word on who the artist(s) is, but they're lovely.

Maggie's moving to Madison in August (welcome, Maggie!) and was scoping out her new 'hood in advance when she spotted several pieces of street art. I'm chuffed that she thought to send 'em our way.

All of this reminds me that I need to get better at recognizing artist signatures and styles so as to better give credit for works in the future. Any help would be much appreciated.

Transparently feminist

Dig it - a stencil of "FEMINIST" written as a knuckle tattoo - caught this on a bus shelter along Jenifer St. as I was walking to hit up a coffee shop for its wireless access. Moving sucks.
