Third eye GAH I'M BLIND

Spotted/submitted by TF. There's just...a whole lot going on here. Cats with cleavage = nope nope nope.

Proper gentledogs

Meep again. Paste-up at the corner of Ingersol and Willy. And the inevitable dong graffiti on the gentleman dog, too.

The prettiest monster in the deep ocean

Another piece by one of our most prolific Madison street artists (or collective, I've heard conflicting rumors), Meep! On the side of Mother Fools, natch. Such a pretty, pretty deep sea creature!

Meep has been hard at (surreal) work

The artist known as meep has to be one of the hardest working street artists in Madison right now (next to Roboman), and I love all of their work, in all its surrealistic glory. Most of it seems to be clustered around Mother Fools and the Willy Street area, though if anyone has seen it elsewhere in town, give a shout!

Bifurcated Wolf

Cut in half and locked up. It's hard out here for an urban wolf paste-up. Spotted on the fire-gutted but slowly-being-remodeled storefront at E. Mifflin and N. Webster.

Check mate, cupcake

This one has be stumped, though I do dig the strange combination of what appears to be a knight chess piece in a cupcake. This is on the wall just over City Bar on State Street.

SOLVE: Still in the streets, and our heartbeats

SOLVE and our Heartbeats - Still in the Streets
This piece just went up at Mother Fool's as part of the annual celebration of Brandon "SOLVE" Scanlon's life held by the McGlynn-Scanlon family.

The work is by well-known Chicago street artists Nice One and Tara D, photographed by Bill Scanlon (SOLVE's dad).

It's electric!

(click for big)
This is what we'd call an instructional/safety paste-up. Spotted in an alley near East Towne Mall by Scott M.

You see me strollin'

(click for big - from August 15, 2011)

Willy St., of course.

Throw off your chains (and tinier men?)

I'm not...entirely sure what's going on in this paste-up, but it is delightful. It's also on the back wall of Mickey's Tavern on Willy St., and still there as of this posting. Photo courtesy of Nick Nice.

P.S. I love the fact that so many paste-ups have been going up this summer - much more than I've previously seen - and I'm pretty sure most of them are officially sanctioned by the building owners. There are several big ones on the side of Plan B that I need to get photos of, too. Keep up the great work, all!

The paper SWAT team will beat you to a pulp

Another fabulous paste-up at Mother Fools, photographed again by beinshitty on Flickr. Love it. (And no, I won't apologize for the pun in the title of this post...I love puns)

Gas masks and bouquets

This is spectacular. Paste-up outside of reliably street art friendly Mother Fools coffee house on Willy St., photographed by beinshitty on Flickr. I definitely recognize the style of this piece, but still need to brush up on my specific artist names.

With fresh eyes...

(beautiful squid script - click for big)
Maggie's moving to Madison in August (welcome, Maggie!) and was scoping out her new 'hood in advance when she spotted several pieces of street art. I'm chuffed that she thought to send 'em our way.

All of this reminds me that I need to get better at recognizing artist signatures and styles so as to better give credit for works in the future. Any help would be much appreciated.

At the fruit market

Looks like a few folks have been working on the back wall of Brennan's on University Ave. Thanks to tipster N for this spotting.

Street art side trip to NYC

I had the great good fortune to take my first (and, frankly, long overdue) trip to New York City last week and snapped a few shots of the street art in the East Village. Granted, I didn't even scratch the surface because that shit's everywhere. I am, quite honestly, insanely jealous. C'mon, Madison, step it up! :)

Technicolor octopus

This colorful guy was spotted and photographed by Josh back in April (so I suspect it's no longer there) in the bicycle path tunnel under E. Johnson St.

Dance Your Troubles Away

Another fantastic work by SWIV. It can also be seen on the side of Mother Fool's at the moment.

(It's also another photo by intrepid street art reporter Clare D.)

The Pink Ranger has you on a short leash

I spotted this while on my commute home from work last Friday. The Pink Ranger has sadly already been removed (I think it was just a paste-up), but the little transformer guy is still there, keeping watch. This was on a wall where Escape Java Joint used to be on Williamson St. One of the bigger and more whimsical pieces I've seen in awhile.

Bury "America"

Intrepid on-the-ground reporter DW sends in this snapshot of a particularly feisty sticker/paste-up on the corner of Gorham St. and Fordem Ave. on the city's northeast-ish side. Is that angry man someone in particular? I don't recognize him. But I like how "America" is in quotes.
